The flashing system for runway
approach guidance complies with ICAO Annex 14, Volume I, FAA AC
150/5345-51 and STANAG 3316.
- The system provides sequential flashing and complete
monitoring of the lamps with only a single power cable installed between the units. No control
cable is needed.
- The lights are flashing sequentially form the beginning of the
approach line towards the threshold with a frequency of 0,5, 1 or 2 /s and can be
operated with three brilliancy steps.
- If threshold identification lights are added tot the
system the TIL units flash last in the system sequence.
- The system comprises of the
light fittings (2-32), junction boxes (1 per fitting) and a flash light controller (1 per
system).
- The flashlights units are installed on the masts in the
approach centerline.
- The junction boxes are installed close to the lights to branch
the light fitting supply cables from the heavier line cable.
- The flashlight controller is located in the electrical
station from where the line cable is brought to the flash light fittings. In case of
threshold identification lights a separate loop wire must be brought to the fittings to ensure
safe ignition of the tubes
- The feed cable shall comprise a loop to ensure equal
brightness (loop resistance) for all fittings. The line cable must be selected so that
its loop resistance will be 3-6 ohms.
- Extremely easy and quick installation and commissioning
of the system
- Reliable operation - control cable s and high voltage
capacitors are not required.
- 3 brilliancy steps and individual lamp fault
monitoring.
